Dennis Michael Hart Obituary

Dennis Michael Hart, age 66, of Rockford, went home on Saturday, November 20, 2021 to his Heavenly Father. With his wife Debra holding his hand and gently speaking to him, his daughter Carrie by his side, and the help of his amazing Faith Hospice team, he found peace and no more pain. He was preceded in death by his children, Kelly and Jason; parents, Earl and Gloria (nee Young) Hart; brother, Steve Hart; father and mother-in-law, George and Mary Plante. Dennis was a sheet metal journeyman by trade. He also worked with leather, computers, and many other things. His wife would say that he was a truly gifted man. Dennis was quiet, gentle, humble, and had a wonderful, dry sense of humor. We will forever remember Den for his incredible kindness, and beautiful spirit. We have lost such a remarkable man, but he has left all of us with memories that we will dearly cherish. Until we meet again in Heaven, Den -- we will always love you and feel your presence. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of forty-seven years, Debra (nee Plante); daughter, Carrie (Jeff Kamer); granddaughters, Kendra and Rachel; sister Patricia Elzinga; niece, Ambrosia (Daniel) Stiegman; and their children, Greyson, Carys, Dianna, Emilia; Dennis and Debra’s beloved best friend for twenty-one years, Jeff Martz; lifelong friend, Dennis Peasley, and extended family from New Hampshire. The following is from his granddaughter Rachel: “Heaven gained an angel yesterday. One of the sweetest and kindest men I have ever met in this lifetime. You fought a long fight and you didn’t lose -- you gracefully let go and flew. You will be dearly missed and your mark left in this world will never be diminished. From para-cording to the ATV to flying the drones, I will treasure every second of every memory with you. Words cannot describe the love you have given everyone around you and the love for you. Fly high, angel. “When someone dies of cancer, we say ‘they lost the battle with cancer,’ as if between the two of them, cancer was better, the stronger, and the smarter. But if you think about it, if I die from cancer, then cancer dies too. If I survive cancer, cancer loses its battle with me. Cancer never wins. Cancer. Never. Wins.”” In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Dennis’s name to Faith Hospice, 2100 Raybrook SE, Suite 300, Grand Rapids, MI 49546 or to Trillium Palliative Services, 2100 Raybrook St. SE Suite 100, Grand Rapids, MI 49546. https://faithhospicecare.org/donate/ A private family service is planned for a future date.
