A graveside memorial and celebration of life

will be held at Pleasantview Cemetery on June 3, 2022.

It is with deepest regret and utter sorrow that we announce the untimely passing of our most cherished and loved Mom and Baba, Eleanor Solohub. Born on a blustery cold winter day on the last day of January, Olena (Eleanor) Lysyk graced this world in all her perfection, blessing her parents, Anastasia and Harry, and thrilling her big sister Stella. Eleanor soon became a big sister to Lorna, Orest, Sylvia, and Sonya, a role that she took very seriously. She became the sister who everyone loved. She was the epitome of grace and integrity.

Eleanor married the absolute love of her life, Mike on June 3, 1956. Mom stood behind her family supporting, nurturing, and protecting us all. She had a special gift of including everyone and offering her warm hospitality always. Mom was humble and kind, loyal, sincere, and accepting of everyone. She was a wonderful friend and had formed many lasting friendships to this day. A self-taught hairdresser, she cut friends, family, and neighbors' hair, even the fussy ones trusted no one with their hair but Mrs. Solohub.

Eleanor was a community leader and volunteer. She was one of the founders of the Wynyard School of Dance. She also proudly served on the Wynyard Hospital Auxiliary for 34 years. She gave countless hours to bake sales, volunteered at the thrift store, and attended meetings. We were proud when Mom was awarded the Heart of Gold award, something everyone knew she was deserving of. In recent years Mom continued her community involvement by joining the Morning Glory Group of volunteers that maintain and beautify the Wynyard hospital grounds. Forever In Motion was another outlet she enjoyed. It kept her active and allowed her to connect with members in her community. She called her exercising a good habit and enjoyed it so much. Mom was also very involved with St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox church. As a contributing member to her town, Mom was proud to call Wynyard her home.

Her razor-sharp wit and succinct sense of humor were unmatched. Her words of wisdom and sage advice were trusted and relied on to guide us. Savvy and intelligent, Mom somehow managed to eloquently have the last say, which we respected and appreciated. Mom was an excellent conversationalist and colorful storyteller. Mom leaves to mourn her forever, her loving children, Cindy Whalen and Vern Linn, Tammy Arnason, Michael and Colleen Solohub, Donna and Curtis Chorney; grandchildren Amber and Nat Vey, Kristy and Jon Partridge, Riley, Alissa, Carleigh, Kristjan (Mikayla) and Michael Arnason, Cole, Jesyka, Eryka and Cate Chorney; great grandchildren Delane and Seth Whalen, Brandon and Tyhlar Vey, and Wyatt, Emmett and Olena Partridge (Baba's namesake). Also, her sisters and brother and their families, and many dear and treasured friends.

Donations will be greatly appreciated and directed to the Wynyard Hospital Auxiliary. A graveside memorial and celebration of her beautiful life will be held on June 3, 2022 at Pleasantview Cemetery in Wynyard, SK.
