Helen Ferrari Obituary

Helen Ferrari, 94, of Weirton, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2021, after a very brief illness. The youngest of nine children, Helen, was born in Weirton, WV, on October 20, 1927, to Eli and Mary Zivko Yanjanin. She graduated from Weir High School with the Class of 1945, where she was a majorette in the Weir High Band. On July 19, 1953, she married her high school sweetheart from the Class of 1946, Norman D. Ferrari, Jr. A Colonel in the United States Air Force, Norman practiced Law in Weirton, was the Weirton municipal judge and assistant prosecutor and magistrate for Hancock County, and Helen took care of their home. In their 54 years of marriage, they were blessed with two children and four grandchildren, eventually a great-grandson and two more great-grandchildren on the way. Sadly, Norman passed away on January 23, 2008. Humble, generous, selfless, and the epitome of class, Helen cherished the times she had with her family. She enjoyed attending all their activities and events. They were the essence of her life. Helen was a member of Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton, where she nourished her faith, and the ISDA Weirtonian Lodge. She will be remembered with love by her son, Dr. Norman D. Ferrari, III (Nancy) of Morgantown, WV; a daughter, Mariann Weimerskirch (Regis) of Weirton; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Ferrari, Thomas “T.J.” (Dr. Jennifer Zatezalo) Weimerskirch, Nicholas (Bailey) Ferrari and Danielle (Bobby) Littleton; her great-grandson, Marko Weimerskirch, and her great-grandchildren on the way Jovan Weimerskirch and Layla Littleton. In addition to her parents and her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her brother, Charles Yanjanin, and her infant sister, Rose Yanjanin; stepbrothers, Mike and John Lazich; and stepsisters, Mildred Brkanovich, and Ruth Vezmar. Additionally, two infant siblings died at birth Visitation will be held Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at Greco-Hertnick Funeral Home, 3219 Main Street Weirton, WV. Masks will be optional if vaccinated. Let your comfort level be your guide. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Saturday at the Saint Joseph the Worker Roman Catholic Church, Weirton.
