Margaret Mary Sheridan Born February 28, 1956 Departed November 19, 2021 A wonderful mother, sister, daughter, godmother and friend. Margaret Mary Parks was born to Thomas & Patricia Parks at Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up with a large family of five brothers and two sisters, eventually graduating from Ernest W. Seaholm High School in 1974. Twice married, Margaret gave birth to a son Christopher Thomas in 1985 with her first husband, Howard Kincannon, and again in 1990 to a daughter Meghan Patricia with her second husband, John Sheridan. Throughout her nearly 30 year career in financial services Margaret, or “Peggy” to those who knew and loved her, insisted that her true purpose on Earth was motherhood (to which her children can attest). As a single mother, Peggy did not work to survive; she worked to give her children the best life imaginable. This is a quality instilled in her by her parents “Tom and Patty,” who were happily married for almost 50 years. When it came to her children’s happiness and quality of life, there was no detail too small and she strived to create the most comfortable home possible. Peggy took pride in providing necessities like clothing (which she loved to shop for) and food on the table (from her amazing mother’s recipe book). She enjoyed helping with schoolwork, insisted on interesting cultural experiences, and supported extracurricular activities like music, sports, art and dance. A true passion of hers was travel and excursions abroad. It may have been the brief stint working in travel accommodations or the childhood Parks' family vacations and road trips, but she instilled a love of adventure and cultural appreciation that most children could have only dreamed of from their parents, let alone a single mother. Peggy was a creative soul who loved to read, paint, and decorate. She would spend hours adorning furniture and knick knacks, giving them away to family and friends. She loved going “up north” and spent much of her younger years enjoying the outdoors and fishing on the Au Sable River, fond memories she spoke of often. From Hawaii to Paris, Peggy gained a wealth of experience and joyous memories that she carried with her throughout her life. Margaret is survived by her son Christopher and daughter Meghan, brothers and sisters in law Robert and Mary Anne, Thomas and Susan, John and Melissa, sister and brother in law Judith and Frederick, sister Catherine, and a loving group of nieces and nephews. She has joined her beloved brothers David and William, and parents Thomas and Patricia. Our mother was an enigma and a character, especially in our eyes. She had a heart of gold, an unparalleled determination to survive and find joy, and defended her family with an unwavering fierceness. As kids we asked for so little, because we wanted for nothing. You showed us selflessness and dedication, love and appreciation, and boldness with a soft heart. We will always love and miss you, Wonderful Mother.
