Gloria L. Word was born in Sturgis, Kentucky to the late Fred and Magline Hughes on Feb 16, 1942 and departed this life November 20, 2021 to be with the Lord. Sister Gloria was preceded in death by her eldest child, Lauriann Word. Gloria confessed a hope in Christ at an early age. Gloria graduated from Dunbar High School in Morganfield, Kentucky. She worked at Peabody Coal Company for 25 years. Gloria also worked at Earle C. Clements Job Corps Center in Morganfield where she touched so many young people’s hearts. Gloria leaves to cherish her three daughters, Beverly Brown (Lemuel) of Radcliff, KY, Gloria Wilson (Mike) of Henderson, KY, and Stephanie Bruce (Thomas) of Morganfield, KY; three sons Marvin Word of Paducah, KY, Eugene Word, Jr. (Kimberly) of Morganfield, KY, and Stevie Word (Geraldine) of Sturgis, KY. She also leaves to mourn 22 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren. Service will be private family service.
