Errol J. Terrell

<p>Errol J. Terrell, 92, of Hebron, CT passed away on November 23, 2021. He was born on August 20, 1929 in Boston, MA. The son of the late William F.C. Terrell and Sarah (Townsend) Terrell.&nbsp; Errol attended Boston public schools and received a BA Degree from State Teachers College. He attended the University of Hartford graduating with an M.A. in Guidance and an Advanced Degree in School Psychology from University of CT.</p> <p>Errol taught at the Gilbert High School in Winsted, CT before coming to Kaynor Regional Tech. as a Director of Guidance. He was later promoted to Director of Adult Education and then appointed as Consultant for Vocational Research with the State Dept. of Education. &nbsp;</p> <p>He taught graduate courses in Education at both Central CT State College and the University of CT. In 1971, Errol was appointed Chief of the Bureau of Vocational Services for the CT State Dept. of Education. He retired from that position in 1988 and established the Errol Terrell Scholarship Fund.</p> <p>Errol served in the Navy as an enlisted Airman. He received a commission and served on a destroyer in both active and reserve duty.&nbsp; He served a tour as CO of the Navy Reserve Station in Waterbury.&nbsp; After 31 years with the Navy he would retire with the rank of Captain.</p> <p>He was the Founder of Naugatuck Valley Counseling Service.&nbsp; Served as a Treasurer of the FFA Foundation of CT and served on the Board of Directors for St. George&rsquo;s Day School.&nbsp; He held membership in the Reserve Officers Assoc, The Navy League, the FFA, The American Vocational Assoc, American Beekeeper Assoc, FHA, CTEA and the CT Vocational Assoc.&nbsp; As an active member of St. George&rsquo;s Church in Middlebury, Errol served on the Vestry as a Lay Reader and a Chalicist.&nbsp;</p> <p>Errol was preceded in death by his beloved wife Marilyn. He is survived by his sisters, Edna Ahern and Irma Shaw; four sons, Douglas of Gulf Breeze, FL, Craig of Chaplin, CT, William of Middlebury, CT, and Wayne of Middlebury, CT; two granddaughters, Cheryle Elliott and Samantha Terrell; grandson John Terrell; great granddaughter, Desiree Elliott; and a great grandson Dakota Fortier.</p> <p>There will be a service at a later date.
