Mary Elizabeth Dugan

Mary Elizabeth Dugan, the daughter of Bill and Hazel (Ulmar) Kronberger was born on December 13, 1943 in Regent, North Dakota. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and friend who passed away at the age of 77 years on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 surrounded by her family at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota. Mary was raised in Regent and attended school until her family moved to Joliet, Montana in 1956 for a couple years before moving to Glendive. After high school she went on to college to receive her Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the University of North Dakota. On December 23, 1966, she was united in marriage to James “Jim” Dugan at the Dugan Ranch in rural Towner. Mary taught in Bottineau for three years and Towner school for 34 years, most of those years, she taught 3rd grade. She retired in 1999 and received an honorary diploma from Towner High School. She continued to sub in the Towner area until 2002. She enjoyed arts, craft, garage saling, spending time at the lake, attending her grandchildren’s many sporting events and activities as well as celebrating holidays with her grandchildren. Her life revolved around her grandchildren, who she was so proud of. Mary had a wonderful sense of humor, who brightened any room with her smile, warmth, compassion and kindness. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Mary is survived by her daughter, Raquel Dugan-Dibble and her husband, Keith; grandsons, Robert and Austin; granddaughter, Ashlyn; many cousins; nieces, nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2008 and her parents, Bill in 1953 and Hazel in 1999. The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Towner Ambulance and staff at the Heart of America Medical Center for their care and compassion. The family would also like to thank Larry Engeland for volunteering to take the time to help with transportation to treatments and doctor appointments. Please join us in celebrating her life with memorial services held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 29 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Towner with burial in the Union Cemetery, Towner. Jay Dugan, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home in Towner. In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial in her honor to the Towner Fire and Ambulance.
