Jim Hubble Obituary

James “Jim” Hubble passed away on Sunday, November 21, at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, Montana. He is survived by his spouse of 56 years, Pat, his daughters Beth and Joanie, his sons-in-law Sean and Todd, and his grandchildren Ian and Eleanor.   Jim was born in Saginaw, Michigan in 1942, the third child of Julian and Ruth Hubble. The family moved to Buffalo, New York in the 1950’s. His father worked for General Motors and Jim’s high school summer job was at the GM plant.  In 1957, he met his wife Pat when they were sophomores at Kenmore High School. He graduated from Kenmore East High School in Tonawanda, New York in 1960 and attended the Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He transferred to Syracuse University for his sophomore year but returned to the Citadel to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in history in 1964. He then entered the Army, serving as a military policeman at Fort Campbell, Kentucky from 1964 to 1966.   Jim and Pat were married in Columbus, South Carolina on June 5, 1965. After his military service, they moved to Sarasota, Florida where Jim was a personnel manager for the Sears Roebuck plant and an Army reservist. Jim continued working for Sears in Atlanta where Beth was born in 1972. In 1974, the family moved to Corinth, Mississippi where Joanie was born in 1979.   At the age of 42, Jim decided it was time for a career change and began applying to law schools. In 1985, the family moved to Missoula, Montana, where he attended the University Of Montana School Of Law, graduating with high honors in 1988. The family moved to Stanford in 1988 where he began practicing law with John Christensen. He was elected Judith Basin County Attorney in 1990 and served in that position until 2006. He continued practicing law in Stanford and Lewistown until his death.   Jim loved playing golf especially at Pine Meadows in Lewistown. He was a voracious reader and preferred historical non-fiction and mystery novels. He was also a fan of all kinds of music from opera to ABBA. He will be remembered by his family and friends for his irreverent sense of humor and generous heart.   There will be an open house on Friday, December 3, from 1-3 at the Hubble Law Firm in Stanford.   Arrangements are under the care of Creel Funeral Home.  Jim’s family and friends can share memories and condolences at www.creelfuneralhome.com
