David Lenox Smith was born in Bennington, VT on July 6, 1940 and resided in Meriden for the majority of his lifetime. He was the eldest son of Nelson B. and Dorothy E. Smith and is survived by his son Jonathan D. Smith of Meriden, daughters, Melinda Lancaster of California, and Kerri Ferrero (Stephen); siblings Margaret E. Tarbell, James N. Smith (Joan), Patricia Geary (James), and Daniel W. Smith as well as several grandchildren, nephews and nieces. He held a special place in his heart for his granddaughter Katelin, who has Rett syndrome. David was an accomplished carpenter who was proud of his work in Meriden and surrounding towns. His sense of humor and memory of people and events made him a reliable source of recall for family and friends. He was a longtime member of the Friendship Club and resided at the Meriden Center during his final days. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Church, 35 Center St., Meriden, CT. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
