Paul Wayne Wissmann

Paul Wayne Wissmann, 79 of Fruitland area, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family. Paul was born October 1, 1942 in Cape Girardeau, MO to Jesse and Mary (McLain) Wissmann. He and the former Margaret Huckstep were married December 8, 1962 in Cape Girardeau and would have celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary next month. Paul served in the U.S. Army from 1963-1965, and was stationed in Germany during the Berlin Conflict. He was very proud of his military service, and embraced the title of veteran with honor. Paul was owner of Paul's Upholstery in Scott City for many years. He then worked for Procter and Gamble, from where he retired in 2000. He was an avid collector of antique cars, and proud owner several Hudsons throughout the years. He is survived by his wife, daughters Pamela Simmons of Jackson, and Bobbi Wissmann of Scott City. Brother, Mark (Linda) Wissmann of Fruitland. Grandsons, Justin Wissmann of Fruitland, Matthew Sissom, Alex Simmons, and Caleb Simmons all of Jackson, and 9 great-grandchildren: Chasity, Kason, Leona, Gavin, Olivia, Beckett, Elliot, Chris, and Owen. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald Wissmann, Ronald “Zane” Wissmann, and sister Katherine “Fern” Hency. Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill is in charge of arrangements. There will be a private service at a later date to include full military honors, with interment at Stars and Stripes Veterans Cemetary in Bloomfield, MO. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Southeast Hospice Team for not only the kindness and care shown to Paul, but for the family as well. They would also like to thank all who called, texted, and/or provided food for their thoughtfulness.
