Tamara Murtha Obituary

Please join us in celebrating the life of a truly special woman. Tami was born on May 4th 1960 in Chicago Il. On November 18th, she went to rest in peace, free from her internal struggles. Tami spent her life as a light to everyone she met. She was a selfless friend, family member and put everyone else before her. She took great joy in helping others, being a shoulder to lean on. She loved music, art, decorating, making jewelry, painting and making things beautiful. A decade-long obsession with Halloween made her famous in the neighborhood, with even the local school bus stopping by to see the decorations. She was a life long bartender and waitress, becoming a favorite face to many a regular at local places like Bogie's in Mt. Prospect. Despite her occupation, she celebrated 24 years of sobriety this year. She never missed a cheerleading event, a dance recital or special day of her girls, and always claimed they were "the prettiest ones there". Tami loved to laugh. She made everyday fun, in small and large ways. Mike and Tami were the ultimate team, always the couple looking to help out their friends when they needed them. Tami loved joking around and spending time with her brothers and sisters, especially her twin brother Tommy, who she lost in 2018. Tami never met a dog she didn't like. Then one day, a little shih tzu named Vegas appeared, and she found her true love. Tami and Vegas were inseparable for the 15 years he was on this earth. Tami was also a very special grandma to her grandpuppy Yoshi, who shared a special bond as well. Tami was always there with a warm hug, great advice, words of affirmation, or just a listening ear. As you look at the moon on a clear night, please think of Tami and remember her for her sparkle. She is survived by her husband of almost 40 years Michael, her daughters Ashley (Tim) King, Michelle Murtha (Ryan Mclean). As well as her beloved mother Thelma LaTurno and her siblings Laura (Paul) Wojciechowski, Michael LaTurno, Chrissy (Terry) Bejna. and sister in law Monica (Steve) Adams. She will be missed by her nieces Brittney (Kurt) Holler, Bridget Wojciechowski, Nicole and Morgan Bejna and Catherine Lindahl, and her nephews David LaTurno, Billy Lindhal, Ryan (Stephanie) and Brett Bejna, Raymond Wojciechowski and great nephew Van Holler. She was welcomed into peace by her father James LaTurno, brother Tom LaTurno, sister in law Hilarie LaTurno, mother and father in law Catherine and William Murtha, brother in law Marty Murtha and favorite furry child Vegas
