Charles David Reeves

Charles David Reeves died on Monday, November 22, 2021 at University of Mississippi Medical Center following a long illness. He was 69. A native of New Orleans and born on March 9, 1952, he was the son of the late Charles Columbus Skelton and Mildred Lanelle Reeves. He was raised in Freeport, Texas. For many years, he was a heavy machine mechanic and was a dedicated and loyal employee at Burkes Handling Equipment where he loved to work until his illness forced his retirement in 2018. Mr. Reeves was a member of Farmhaven Baptist Church for more than 40 years where he loved to sing and was very involved in all aspects of the church. He loved his family and adored his grandchildren. He was known for celebrating and decorating for Halloween and Christmas. He loved hunting and fishing and was a skilled craftsman in woodwork and in putting together sophisticated puzzles that were works of art. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Nina Skelton and a brother, Phillip Reeves. He is survived by his daughter, Debra Reeves Carter (Roger) of Clinton; son, Mark Reeves (Tiffany) of Madison; grandchildren, Austin Reeves Carter, Christian Edward Reeves, Isabelle Grace Reeves, and Lilly Ann Reeves; brother, John Skelton, of Freeport, TX; and a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Sebrell Funeral Home in Ridgeland, with Bro. Grant McElveen, officiating. Interment will follow in Farmhaven Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Bill Page, Chuck Page, Larry Reeves, Trae Reeves, Austin Carter, and Carlos White. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Reeves and Christian Reeves.
