A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at 2 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church for Robert Jean “R. J.” Vidrine, II, 64, who died Sunday, Nov. 21, 2021. Fr. Andrew Schumacher, Pastor of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church-Mermentau, will officiate for the services. The family requests visiting hours Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 1 p.m. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery in Mowata. R. J. is survived by his wife, Christine “Chrisi” Hensgens Vidrine of Lafayette; two daughters, Jeanne Thibodeaux and her husband Michael of Broussard and Paige Vidrine of Lafayette; one son, Ryan Vidrine of Houston, TX; 7 grandchildren, Analee Thibodeaux, Jude Michael Thibodeaux, Vivian Vidrine, Caroline Thibodeaux, Harrison Vidrine, Gabriel Thibodeaux, and Thomas Thibodeaux; his mother Jannette Vidrine Lofton; two sisters, Shelia Turnage and her husband J. T. of Lafayette and Belinda Myers of Rayne; one brother, Dewey “Sonny” Vidrine and his wife Bridget of Youngsville; numerous brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Monique Christine Vidrine and his father, Robert J. Vidrine. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
