Carol Carboni Obituary

Carol Kelly Carboni, age 81, devoted and loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on November 20, 2021, with her loving family by her side. Carol was born on December 19, 1939 to the late Walter A. and Jennie (Palcovich) Kelly. She attended St. Lawrence School and graduated from West Haven High School in 1957. Carol eloped with the love of her life, Larry Carboni, who preceded her in death in 1993. She and Larry raised their family in West Haven and Orange, but Carol was always a true Westie at heart. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Joseph F. Kelly, and her sister, Kathleen T. Kelly. Carol was loved and will be truly missed by her children, Susan Carboni, with whom she resided, Larry (Kathy) Carboni, Mary Ellen (Jeremy) Stewart, and her beloved grandchildren whom she adored and was so proud of; Lexi and Michael Stewart, and Shannon and Lauren Carboni. She is also survived by her aunts, Mary and Regina, her sister in law, Maureen Kelly, nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends.

Carol started her career at Yale New Haven Hospital, worked in real estate and then as a dental assistant until her retirement. Carol was happiest when she was cooking and entertaining for friends and family. She created a loving home where all were welcome, young and old, any time. She enjoyed reading, being by the ocean, traveling, shopping, seeing her friends at Mike’s and Biagettis, family dinners on Sundays, and spending time with her special cousin, Brian Kelly. Carol was a strong, kind, fiercely independent soul who will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2021, from 8:30-10:30 am at West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. Her funeral procession will leave the funeral home on Saturday morning at 10:30 for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in Holy Infant Church, Orange, at 11am. Interment will follow in Orange Center Cemetery. Donations may be made in Carol’s name to Special Olympics Connecticut 2666 State Street Suite 1, Hamden CT 06517 or specialolympicsct@soct.org.
