Betty Marie Salsbury Carraway Obituary

A celebration of Life for Betty Marie Salsbury Carraway was held Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 11:00 AM, at Mangham Baptist Church, Mangham, Louisiana with Brother Rick Aultman officiating. Visitation started at 10:00 AM with funeral services beginning at 11:00 AM.

Interment followed at Gwin Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Brown-Holley Funeral Home, Rayville, Louisiana.

Betty Marie Salsbury Carraway, an 83-year-old native of Mangham, Louisiana, passed away on November 21, 2021 from a brief illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Chuck” Carraway, Sr., her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Salsbury, Sr., her brother, Dallas H. Salsbury, Jr., her nephew, Mark Salsbury, and her sister-in-law, Nancy C. Gunter.

She is survived by her three children, Charles E. Carraway, Jr. (Kathy) from Medford, Oregon, Bruce E. Carraway from Slidell, Louisiana and Teresa C. Roberts from Phoenix, Arizona and her amazing grandchildren, Amanda, Jonathan, Charlie, Lexy, Indi and Cali. In addition, her brother, Thomas “Butch” Salsbury (Jane) sister-in-law, Booney Salsbury and her brother-in-law, William C. “Bill” Gunter. Many adoring nieces and nephews, Linda S. Norred (Clayton), Lisa S. Folds (Jamey) and David L. Salsbury (Candace), Leah S. Duval (Brian), Joel Salsbury, William C. “Todd” Gunter (Kim) and Rhonda G. Scelsi (Charlie) and loved and enjoyed participating in the lives of Evan and Ellie Barten.

Betty demonstrated strong faith in God and through that shared many friendships in her church and community. She was an active member of Mangham Baptist Church. A list too many to print of cousins and friends that were her partners in crime. An avid gardener who could sit for hours enjoying what nature provided, whether it be hummingbirds, zinnia flowers in her garden or her resident red bird. Throughout the years, she loved baking cookies for ALL. She offered many and received even more.

Pallbearers were David Salsbury, Austin Salsbury, Jamey Folds, Garrett Fold, Clayton Norred and Trey Norred.
