NICHOLAS, Lawrence Martin – of Clio, age 84, died Sunday, November 21, 2021 at McLaren Flint. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Trinity Assembly of God Church. Pastor Rob King officiating. Cremation to follow. The family will receive visitors on Friday, November 26, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Trinity Assembly of God Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Trinity Assembly of God Church for the Prayer Room. Lawrence was born June 7, 1937 in Clio, Michigan to the late Thomas and Iris (Wallis) Nicholas. He grew up in Clio, Michigan and attended Clio Schools. Lawrence served his country in the US Army. On December 31, 1960 he married Elinor VanCuren in Birch Run, Michigan. Prior to his retirement in 2001, Lawrence drove Truck for 30 years with several companies including Blue Arrow Douglas and Roadway. He was a member of the Trinity Assembly of God Church and served as an Elder, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, carpentry, and studying the word of God. However, his greatest joy in life was his friends and family. Surviving are: Wife of 60 years, Elinor Nicholas; Children, Vanessa (David) Murray, Kimberly(Mike) Jankowski; 19 Grandchildren; 16 Great Grandchildren; Siblings, Tom (Jean) Nicholas, Jim Nicholas, Bob (Marie) Nicholas, Ron Nicholas, Pastor Len (Carol) Nicholas, Bill (Rosie) Nicholas, Esther Runyan, David (Linda) Nicholas; several nieces and nephews. Lawrence was preceded in death by his Parents; Daughter, Vernita Nicholas; Sister in laws, Berneice Nicholas, Marilyn Nicholas; Brother in law, Chuck Runyan. Great Man! Larry came all the way to Kenosha to speak at Byron Nicholas (my husband) funeral. Larry was always encouraging, uplifting and giving, truly, a man of God! Will see him again, probably sooner then we think.
