Peggy Griffin
<p>Peggy Griffin, 68, passed away on (Sunday) November 21, 2021 at Bristol Hospital. She was born on October 4, 1953 in Cleveland, Ohio to Doris (Mcllvaine) and the late William B. Andexler.<br /> <br /> Peggy helped provide a loving home, where laughter and learning were paramount. Peggy worked in the restaurant industry. She worked in everything from fast food to diners to 4-star restaurants in Ohio, then the New Haven, CT area after moving with her then-husband John Griffin and son Zachary in 1977. She most recently was a Manager for Harry’s Sports Grill within The Holiday Inn hotel in North Haven, CT. Peggy retired in 2015.<br /> <br /> When not working, her first priority was being a mom to her only child Zachary. Making sure he was set down the right path in life, she taught Zach important life skills like riding a bike, proper table manners, how to cook soup, doing laundry, the value of a dollar and how to stretch it, and safe ways to remove modeling glue from stuck fingers. Peggy would volunteer when the schools Zach attended needed parents to chaperone field trips or help out in the main office. <br /> <br /> Her next biggest priority in life was making a good home for her feline friends like Duncan, Idaho, Rebop, Cinnamon, Taylor, Blanca, Zury, Moonshadow. Most recently, even while battling illness, she welcomed Zoe, a cat in need of a good home after the passing of a family friend. Peggy also provided food and temporary shelter for wandering outside cats. Peggy was the go-to babysitter for neighbor’s cats and dogs when they needed to go out of town. Peggy’s love of animals extended to making sure the nearby birds and squirrels were well fed. <br /> <br /> Peggy also enjoyed reading (especially the works of Clive Cussler and Sue Grafton), watching a fairly wide spectrum of TV shows (Antiques Roadshow to Judge Judy to Call The Midwife to Friends to NCIS to This Is Us), and would be known to window shop at antique stores in search of a good bargain (She often referred to her interior decorating style as “Early Antique Shop”).<br /> <br /> Peggy is survived by her son Zachary Griffin of Plainville, her brother Bill Andexler (Brenda; children David and Sarah), sisters Linda Arnold (Jerry; child Nathaniel), and Nancy Laurenchek (widowed to Mark; children Debby May and John Joseph Turner), all from Ohio.<br /> During her marriage, she loved being an aunt to Alicia Moore, Sarah and Josh Harrier, also from Ohio. <br /> <br /> At the request of her family, there are no calling hours or formal funeral service.
