Kendall Meyer, 80, of Ogallala, passed away on  November 19, 2021 at Great Plains Health in North Platte, Ne..  
 
Carl Kendall Meyer was born 6th of 8 children on August 18, 1941 in Minden, Nebraska to Carl Wesley and Mildred Marie (Petersen) Meyer.  He grew up on the family farm southeast of Minden.

Ken received his education at Minden Public Schools graduating in 1959.  He attended Kearney State College (University of Nebraska Kearney) graduating in 1963 with a Bachelor degree in Science Education.  He was a member of Sigma Epsilon Nu Fraternity, Beta Beta Beta Honorary Science fraternity.   

He married Edna Kincheloe on June 8, 1963.   They lived in Chappell, Nebraska where he taught Jr High and High School Science from 1963 to 1966.  In 1967 he received his Masters Degree from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, Oklahoma.  He received membership into Phi Beta Kappa Academic Honor Fraternity while at Oklahoma State.   After graduating in May of 1967, he moved his family to Ogallala, Nebraska where he taught High School Biology, Physiology, and Anatomy in Ogallala Public Schools for 31 years until his retirement in 1998.  He was a member of the Ogallala Teachers Association serving as Vice President and President. He also served as a delegate to Nebraska State Education Association Legislature Committee for two years.   He taught Anatomy night classes for Mid Plains Jr. College of North Platte NE.  For 23 years he worked for Nebraska Game & Parks Commission during summer break and was responsible for carving out the Lakeshore access road on the north side of the Lake McConaughy that is still in use today. He also worked as a crop adjuster for Farm Bureau Insurance Co. until 2003.

He is a past member of Fredericksburg Lutheran Church of rural Minden and Grace Lutheran Church in Chappell.   He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Ogallala where he served as head usher, served on several church committees, and was honored with the Methodist Member of the Year pen.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman since childhood and enjoyed taking his family, especially his grandsons and son-in-law, camping, fishing, and hunting.   He loved spending time with his Brittany hunting dogs of which were constantly by his side.  Ken was a member of Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, National Rifle Association, and past member of Ogallala Sports Club.

He was always ready and willing when called upon by schools to participate in special science days, teaching children about birds, reptiles, and other science related subjects.He delighted in their eagerness to learn.  He tried to make learning as fun and interesting as possible. He wanted them to know that he truly cared about their future and wanted them to succeed in whatever they pursued in life and to be good citizens.  He loved his students no matter their personalities, and always wanted them to realize their own potentials and succeed in whatever they pursued in life.
                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               
He is survived by his wife Edna, son Steven, and daughter Teresa (Tom) Rolls of Fargo, ND, two grandsons, Brian and Spencer Rolls, and Great Grandson, Aidan Rolls. Three brothers, Russell (Karen) of Minden, Nebraska, Marvin (Sonja) of Ft. Collins, Colorado, sisters, Eleanor (Phil)  Etzelmiller of Lincoln, Nebraska, and Linda (Ralph)  Layton of Lincoln, Nebraska,  numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister, a sister-in-law, brother-in-law, and two nephews.

Register book signing will be on Friday November 26th at the Draucker Funeral Home Chapel. The Family will greet their friends and family from 4:00 to 6:00pm.

Memorial Services will be 10:00 am Saturday, November 27, 2021 from the United Methodist Church in Ogallala with the Rev. Chuck Rager officiating.

Memorials have been established to the Ogallala United Methodist Church or to the family for an Ogallala High School Scholarship.

A private Family Committal Service will be held at a later Date.
