<p>Ernest A. Mohaupt, 97, of Jamestown, ND, passed away Sunday afternoon, November 21, 2021 at Jamestown Regional Medical Center, Jamestown.</p> <p>Ernest Andrew Mohaupt was born January 16, 1924 in Grand Rapids, MN, the son of Henry and Helma (Jerney) Mohaupt.&nbsp; He attended school in Grand Rapids and Bemidji, MN.&nbsp;&nbsp; Ernie entered the US Army in May 1943 and served in the European theater in Ireland, England, France, Belgium, and Germany.&nbsp; He was honorably discharged in 1945 at Camp McCoy, WI. &nbsp;Ernie worked for NW Bell Telephone Co. as a lineman, was a supervisor for Ben Franklin stores in northwest Iowa, and in sales for KCMT-TV Alexandria, MN, KTHI-TV Fargo, KSJB-Radio Jamestown, and manager of WDAZ-TV Devils Lake.&nbsp; He&nbsp;was also owner of the Devils Lake Dairy Queen and Coast to Coast store in Cando, ND.</p> <p>Ernie married Gloria Waitman on September 3, 1965 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Jamestown.</p> <p>He is survived by his wife, Gloria; two children, Jeff and Mark of Minneapolis, MN; and three step-children, Lon (Katherine) Waitman, Atlanta, GA, Randy Waitman, Fairbanks, AK, and Julie Waitman, Carmel, IN; four grandchildren; sister, Priscilla Regan, LaMesa, CA.</p> <p>Ernie was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ann; sisters, Marge, Lorry, Carol, Barbara, and Mary; and brother, Jim.</p> <p>There will be a private family graveside service at a later date at North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.</p>
