Susannah Oake November 26, 1936 – November 20, 2021 It is with great sadness that the family of Susannah Oake announce her passing at James Paton Memorial Hospital on Saturday, November 20th, 2021 at the age of 84. Sue was predeceased by her parents Abraham and Maria Coffin (Nee Bailey) and her husband Dawson Oake. She leaves to mourn her son Dale (Tara Hollett) of Gander and daughter Cindy (Jim Young) of Riverview, NB, sisters Stella Sheppard and Eliza Lush, brother Edwin Coffin (Carmen), grandchildren Christopher and Courtney, great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces and a large circle of close cousins and friends. Sue was born and grew up in Joe Batt’s Arm on Fogo Island. She started her Nursing Assistant career at the Fogo Island Hospital and then moved on to work at the Sir Frederick Banting Memorial Hospital in Gander. Sue married Dawson, the love of her life, in 1964 and in 1966 they moved to Yarmouth, NS where they were very active in the Lions Club and met many of their lifelong friends. In 1977 the family moved back to Gander and made a life that was full of beautiful lasting memories. In keeping with Sue’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held at St. Martin’s Anglican Cathedral in Gander on Wednesday, November 24th, 2021 at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of one’s choice.Vaccination passport (VaxPassNL) will be required.
