Maurice Lloyd Hogan, 79, of Bloomfield, CT, beloved husband of Agnes (Thigpen) Hogan, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital. Born at home in Franklin Falls, NY on September 7, 1942, son of the late Thomas J. and Anna (Howard) Hogan, he was raised in Franklin Falls, NY and attended school in Saranac Lake, NY. After high school, Maurice worked as a mechanic for a brief time before taking a position with the State of New York Parks & Recreation Department as a carpenter. He retired after over 30 years with the department in 1999. While living in New York, Maurice spent most of his time Westmoreland, NY where he also served on the Lairdsville Fire Department as a volunteer fireman. In his spare time, he enjoyed working out and exercising, spending time in the great outdoors, camping, hunting, fishing, and trapping, and playing golf. In more recent years, he enjoyed traveling with his wife Agnes including memorable trips to England, Japan, Hawaii, San Diego, Maine, and Canada. Growing up in a large Irish family, Maurice always heard stories of how his great-grandparents immigrated to the United States from Tipperary, Ireland and settled in Franklin Falls, NY. Maurice moved to Connecticut in 2001 to be closer to his son and had lived in Manchester before moving to Bloomfield 10 years ago. Besides his loving wife, he leaves eight children, Tammy Facteau and her husband Michael of Saranac, NY, Michele Hogan of Catawba, NC, Dale Hogan and his wife Maria of Newington, CT, Darrell Hogan and his wife Jean of Westmoreland, NY, Shane Hogan and his significant other, Heidi Nestved of Westmoreland, NY, Neil Hogan and his wife Mary Kay of San Diego, CA, Revanna Cudgma and her husband Matthew of Marlborough, and Sarah Dunagan and her husband Joshua of Marlborough; three stepchildren, Ericka Caldwell and her husband Michael of Windsor, CT, Kinte Barnes of Newington, CT, and Aeron Slade of New Britain, CT; a sister, Anna Madore of Westmoreland, NY; 16 grandchildren, Megan Merrill and her husband Russell, Kaitlyn Norcross and her husband Adam, Molly Hogan, Ryan Hogan, Melonie Tuter and husband Austin, Megan Hogan and her husband Quinton Holden, Mekayla Hogan, Matthew Cudgma, Keegan Dunagan, Raegan Dunagan, Briana Caldwell, Michael Caldwell, Jr., Christopher Caldwell, Kobye Barnes, Monique Barnes, and Naiovy Slade; three great-grandchildren, Darien Tuter, Amelia Norcross, and Conor Norcross; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by seven brothers, William, Thomas II, Richard, Paul, Francis “Joe”, Robert, and John “Jack” Hogan; and two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Hogan and Mary Amell. His family will receive friends on Friday, November 26, 10-11 a.m.,. at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11:30 a.m., at Annunciation Parish-St. Mary Church, 626 Willard Ave., Newington. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield.
