GERALDINE “GERRY” M. DONOFE, 84, of Weirton, WV passed away Saturday November 20, 2021 at Weirton Medical Center after a brief illness. Gerry was born May 29, 1937 in Weirton, daughter of the late George C. and Anna E. Kovalik Bertha. She is also preceded in death by her loving husband, Ralph Donofe, Jr. (1992); brothers, John E. Bertha and George B. Bertha; daughter-in-law, Dawn Donofe; in-laws, Ralph Sr. and Mary Donofe. After graduating from Weir High School, Class of 1955, Gerry was always involved in the activities of her family. She started in Termite Majorettes, Camp Fire Girls as a leader, Cub Scout and Boy Scout Troop 31, Weirton Heights Elementary PTA as a member, officer and Life-Time Member. She was president of the Weir High Varsity Band band parents, Weir High Football Boosters, the Telephone Company Pioneers of America, the Kiwanniannes and the Trinity Lutheran Church. One of Gerry’s favorite activities was playing Mrs. Claus, alongside her husband as Santa, for many family and friends, as well as one year in the Weirton Christmas Parade. Gerry enjoyed baking and sharing recipes with all her family and friends. She was most famous for her nut rolls, pizzelles and cabbage rolls. Gerry is survived by her daughter, Melanie Ann Donofe of Weirton (companion Kevin Sample of Johnston, OH); son, Chris Joseph Donofe of Weirton; grandchildren, Levi and Paige Donofe of Wheeling; brother, Joseph B. Bertha (Fran) of Weirton; sisters-in-law, Claudette Bertha of Morgantown and Pauline Filiano (Charles) of McKeesport; brother-in-law, Steve Donofe (Louise) of Steubenville and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will take place Tuesday November 23, 2021, 2-4pm and 6-8pm at STEEL & WOLFE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 3721 Main Street, Weirton, WV, where the funeral will take place Wednesday at 11am with Pastor Michael Heckathorn presiding. Entombment will follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
