<p>&nbsp;</p> <p><em><strong>Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mrs. Merle Satterfield Thompson, age 86 of Jefferson, Georgia who entered into rest Sunday, November 21, 2021.&nbsp;&nbsp;Mrs. Thompson was born in Hoschton, Georgia a daughter of the late Henry and Toma Stepp Satterfield, was a retired Secretary and a member of Galilee Christian Church.&nbsp;&nbsp;In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thompson is preceded by a son Lee Thompson, six sisters, Lucille Arnold, Myrtice Shropshire, Judy Perkins, Anne Evans, Allene Wilkinson and Bert Carrol. Three brothers, Lee, Royce and Bryce Satterfield.</strong></em></p> <p><em><strong>Survivors include two daughters, Ginger Weldon (Ronnie) of Jefferson, Edie Thompson Archer of Jefferson.&nbsp;&nbsp;One son, Bill Thompson (Sandy) of Jefferson.&nbsp;&nbsp;One sister, Pat Johnson (Gus) of Jefferson.&nbsp;&nbsp;Four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.</strong></em></p> <p><em><strong>Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, November 24, 2021 from the Chapel of Evans Funeral Home with Jordan Weldon officiating with burial to follow in Woodbine Cemetery. &nbsp;Gentlemen honored as pallbearers are Bristol Archer, Jody Johnson, Joseph Laird, Bruce Quiggle, Tim Satterfieldl, Jacob Sims, John Wilkinson and Mark Wilkinson. &nbsp;The family will receive friends prior to the funeral 9:00 &ndash; 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.</strong></em></p> <p><em><strong>In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in memory of Mrs. Merle Satterfield Thompson to the Humane Society of Jackson County, P.O. I always looked forward to her and Pat coming by mawmaws house. They always had us laughing with the stories they told us about their vacations. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Miss Merle was a wonderful lady. We loved visiting with her when she would come by Pat's. She always asked about Christian . She was his first preschool teacher. Please know our prayers are with the family. She was a special lady️
