JAN W. HARPOLD, 69, of Weirton, WV, passed away Friday November 19, 2021 at Allegheny General Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA. He was born November 25, 1951 in Durham, NC, son of the late Benjamin Wayne Harpold (July 2021) and Constance Marie DiLoreto Harpold (October 2021). Jan will always be remembered as the most loving husband, father, and grandfather. He always shared a friendly and boisterous “HELLO” to everyone he met. Jan was a member of the Hancock County Sportsmen's Club and Hall Hunting and Fishing Club where he was an avid deer hunter and camp cook. Along with coaching tee ball, Jan was very involved in Northern Panhandle Youth Soccer Association as a Coach, Referee, past president and Loudest Sideline Supporter (always encouraging, of course). Jan was a U.S. Army veteran and was honored to be part of the Washington D.C. Honor Guard at Fort Myer, VA for 3 years. Jan was a milk man in his younger years and spent most of his life as a Letter Carrier for the United States Postal Service in Weirton. Jan was proud of his 35 years of postal "service" to the people on his Weirton routes. He had a joy for life we all could feel. Jan is survived by his wife Doris “Dorie” Duck Harpold, who married the Milk Man but had the Mail Man's kids; Seth Harpold (Amy) of Georgetown, SC; daughter, Meghan Harpold (Lindsey) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Henry Michael Harpold and Charlotte Rose Harpold; lifelong best friend and "brother", Roger Tate (Kathy) of Weirton, WV and his son Robert Jan Tate of Columbus, OH; aunt, Polly Yanko of Indianapolis, IN; mother-in-law, Martha Duck of East Liverpool, OH; brothers-in-law, Duane Duck (Judy) and Kevin Duck (Kelly); sisters-in-law, Kelley Manning (Bo) and Marla Zema (Michael); his dog, Jackson; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
