Carolyn Josephine (O’Connell) Alexander, age 90, passed away Friday, November 19, 2021. She was born February 23, 1931 in Paden, OK to James Francis and Charlie Mae (Moore) O’Connell. She grew up in Seminole and later moved to the Oklahoma City area where she worked for the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) as a programmer. Carolyn was a lady of numerous abilities, she was adept at many tasks, as a plumber, an electrician and a very accomplished seamstress to name a few. She thoroughly enjoyed woodworking, gardening and machine embroidery as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, son; Jack Merrick, grandson; Travis Merrick and four brothers; Charles Hugh (Smoky), Larry Martin, James Francis (Corky) and Steve Harwell. Carolyn is survived by two sons; Pat Merrick and wife Debbie, Paul Daniel Smith and three daughters; Valerie Sonderegger, Melaney Munday and husband Tony, Amanda Strassle and husband Larry. Also, by seven grandchildren; Larry Merrick and wife Danielle, Clint Merrick, Kyle Merrick and wife Tara, Duke Sonderegger and wife Brittany, Amber Sonderegger, Jacob Strassle and wife Taylor and Jessica Strassle, fifteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, a brother Pat O’Connell and sister Linda Sue Cook. As per Carolyn’s wishes the family will be holding a private memorial at a later date.
