Doreen Mabel Saugmyhr

<p>Doreen Mabel Saugmyhr (Stubbe) was born Jan 24, 1932, at Halbrite Saskatchewan.&nbsp; She was the first child of Ewald and Bertha Stubbe.&nbsp; At the age of two, Ewald, Bertha and Doreen moved to Ketchen Saskatchewan.&nbsp; It was here that Doreen attended the Robinson Creek School from Grades 1 through 10.&nbsp; She then went to Preeceville Saskatchewan for the grades 11 and 12.&nbsp; Once her school years were complete, she went to work in an orphanage in Calgary Alberta for a year.&nbsp; It was then that Doreen moved to Maidstone and Stove Creek Saskatchewan where she was a study supervisor.&nbsp; It must have been in these years that she knew she wanted to be an educator.&nbsp; It was now 1955 and time to move to Moose Jaw Saskatchewan for teacher college until 1956.&nbsp; She then took her first teaching job in 1956 in Hazel Dell Saskatchewan.&nbsp; It was here that she met the love of her life, a man named Lawrence Saugmyhr.&nbsp; They quickly fell in love and were married on October 26, 1956.&nbsp; They bought a farm in the Ketchen area and began to make a life together.&nbsp; Teaching and educating were always in Doreen&rsquo;s mind, it was this drive that moved Doreen and Lawrence to Hudson Bay Saskatchewan.&nbsp; She taught in Hudson Bay as well as another small town in the area called Clemenceau, but finally making a teaching home in Hudson Bay.&nbsp; It was in Hudson Bay where she taught children with special needs.&nbsp; She had a very deep desire to help and teach the special needs community, always advocating and making sure that people with special needs were made to feel no different than any other person. Doreen and Lawrence opened their home to foster children and many children were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to live under the guidance, love and care that Doreen and Lawrence provided.&nbsp; It was during these years that a young lady came into Doreen and Lawrences life, her name was Carmen.&nbsp; Carmen came to live with Doreen and Lawrence in 1983.&nbsp; Carmen remained with Doreen and Lawrence up to Lawrence&rsquo;s death, and then with Doreen until Carmen moved to a group home in Nipawin in 2020.&nbsp; Carmen completed the family and was the joy in Doreen&rsquo;s heart.&nbsp; Doreen lived in her home until the very moment she was called home to live with her Lord and savior on November 15, 2021.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Doreen is predeceased by her husband Lawrence Saugmyhr, her parents Ewald and Bertha Stubbe, 2 brothers Dennis and Barry Stubbe.&nbsp; 2 brothers-in-law Wayne Johnson and Howard Rosaasen. Father and Mother-in-law, Bernard and Edith Saugmyhr, as well as sisters-in-law, Ethel, Bernice and their husbands.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Remaining to mourn are, daughter Carmen Campeau, sisters Leona Johnson, Audrey Rosaasen, Deloris Jakubowski and her husband Joe, along with sister-in-law Sherry Stubbe and many nieces and nephews.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">​Arrangements for Doreen Saugmyhr have been entrusted to Preeceville Funeral Home in cooperation with Blair&rsquo;s Funeral Service Hudson Bay.</p>

Our family was blessed by Doreens kindness and sense of humour. She taught vacation Bible school to one of our very active children and at the end wrote a personal note encouraging her students by pointing out their positive attributes. That special effort meant so much.
