Kathy Ellen Scouras Bethesda, Maryland Obituary

Kathy Ellen Scouras

Kathy Ellen Scouras, age 74, passed away on November 17, 2021, in her home in Rockville, Maryland. She was born in Mineola, New York, and later moved to Floral Park, New York, before spending most of her childhood in Greenlawn, New York. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, James Scouras, who she met in high school; two children, Jennifer Elin Karcher (age 49) and David Jason Scouras (age 42); as well as four grandchildren, a sister, and several nieces and nephews. She graduated from Alfred University with a bachelor’s in nursing and from Trinity College with a master’s in health promotion counseling, and she pursued a career in public health nursing, school nursing, and counseling. She was always appreciated by her patients for her caring personality and respected by her peers for her nursing knowledge. Kathy devoted her life to helping others and also touched the lives of many friends and neighbors. She especially enjoyed the comfort and joy of her beloved dog Gracie. In her spare time she loved reading and cooking and became an excellent amateur wildlife photographer and a contributor to wildlife preservation causes. Yet, most important to her was devotion to her grateful husband and children who have all become better people from her example. We love her, miss her terribly, and know that the sadness in our hearts will never be healed.
