Mary Thompson

Mary Katherine Thompson was born November 26th, 1951 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Lorene Lee (Wilson) and Martin Vernon Barnett. She passed away in Elk City, Oklahoma on Wednesday, November 17th, 2021 at the age of 69 years, 11 months and 22 days. Mary grew up on the family farm between Elk City and Sayre. She attended school at Merritt graduating in 1970. After graduation she was married to Michael Wayne Bashaw and they made their home in the Merritt community. She found employment at McCullough Ford and then the Beckham County Assessors Office where she remained until her retirement in December 31st, 2018. It was during this time she was married to Gaylord Lee Thompson at Wheeler, Texas on November 7th, 2014. After their marriage they made their home in Elk City where they both worked and later on began enjoying their retirement together. Mary always enjoyed traveling with Johnny and Karon, playing games and spending time with her family and especially her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; bonus mother, Geneva Barnett; brother, Mike Barnett; an infant brother, Larry Don Barnett. Mary is survived by her husband, Gaylord, of the home; 3 children, Becky Jo Jones, Oklahoma City, OK, Mickey Bashaw and wife, Cyndi, Elk City, OK and Justin Bashaw and wife, Bridget, Elk City, OK; 2 bonus children, Kandi Jones, Elk City, OK and Ryan Thompson and wife, Danielle, Amarillo, TX; 10 grandchildren, Kasee, Cody, Kaitlyn, Michael, Dylan, Brittney, Bristin, Harley, Dakota and Sierra; 2 great grandchildren, Maverick and Coraline; 1 brother, Johnny Barnett and wife, Karon, Elk City, OK; 1 sister, Marlene Barnett, Oklahoma City, OK and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Trinity Fellowship officiated by Andy Taylor.
