Herman "Sonny" W. Cronauer
<p><strong>CRONAUER, HERMAN W. “Sonny”, 79, Carrolltown, passed away November 17, 2021, at UPMC Altoona Hospital. Born May 3, 1942, in Spangler, the son of Herman and Aldine (Kutruff) Cronauer. Preceded in death by parents; and brother, Rev. Dr. David W. Cronauer. Herman married the love of his life, Gretta (Rickard) Cronauer, with whom he shared 54 years. He was the proud father of Dr. Annette Cronauer (Dr. Richard MacDonald), Anita (Tom) Kendziora, Scott (Lynne) Cronauer, Dr. David (Dr. Jodi) Cronauer, and Brett Cronauer. Even prouder “Poppy” of his favorite people: Cecelia (Adam Vander Stoep), Kenzington, Alexander, and Amalia MacDonald; Christian, Rita, Joseph, and David Kendziora; Lindsey (Brandon) Eck; Hunter, Timber, and Ryder Cronauer; and three beautiful great-granddaughters, Aliya, Baylee, and Willow Eck. He is also survived by a brother, Donald (Nancy) Cronauer, and a sister, Sr. Donna Cronauer, CSJ. Herman was raised in St. Lawrence and resided in Carrolltown and was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church. US Army Veteran proudly serving from 1961 – 1965. Member of Carrolltown American Legion Post 506. A former coalminer and member of UMWA, Sonny later worked as an electrician for the James Van Zandt VA Medical Center. Friends will be received from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, November 22, 2021, at Moriconi Funeral Home, Inc., Northern Cambria, and beginning at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Committal, St. Benedict Cemetery.
