Virginia Miernik Obituary

Virginia “Ginny” Joyce Miernik, of Nesbit, MS, passed away Wednesday, November 10th, 2021, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-DeSoto with her children by her side. She is survived by her daughter Cherise and husband Richard Hughes, and two grandchildren Benjamin and Samuel (Salina, KS), daughter Jorden Miernik-Walker, and two grandchildren Bernadette and Genevieve (Memphis, TN), son Jared Miernik (Nesbit, MS), and daughter Jessica Rae and husband Ricky Michalski, and baby on the way (New Orleans, LA). Sisters Karen and husband Gene Mastel (Mitchell, SD), Catherin and husband Jeff Halgerson (Rapid City, SD) and brother Wendell Knie and wife Sue (Johnston, IA). Ginny was born in Ipswich, South Dakota, to parents, Wallace and Willa Knie. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Ipswich High School. Ginny married her first husband Terry Larson in Aberdeen, SD in 1969. This union brought their daughter, Cherise. Ginny then moved to California to become a massage therapist. She married Joseph L. Miernik in Anaheim, CA in 1985. Their union spawned three more children; Jorden Elizabeth, Jared Emerson and Jessica Rae Miernik. During her life, Ginny worked in massage therapy, education, and casino management. In her freetime and retirement, she enjoyed everything related to her grandchildren, baking, crafting, weaving, gardening, and Scrabble. She loved Rhubarb pie and black licorice. She drank her coffee black. Her sense of humor, dad jokes, and smile will be missed by her family. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Leon Miernik, her parents, and her sister Waneta Curran. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no funeral services. The family asks that you plant a rose bush in her memory.
