Rodrigue G. Valley Obituary

Rodrigue (Rod) Valley, 79, of Fairfax, Vermont passed away on November 18, 2021 after a long battle with esophageal cancer. He was the son of the late George and Germaine (Lavallee) Valley. He leaves behind his wife Jeanne (Bechard) Valley, his son Tim, and his grandchildren Rebecca and Hunter Valley, along with many siblings, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his beloved sons, Thomas who passed on July 28, 2018 and Daniel on August 24, 2020. Rod grew up in Winooski, where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time outside. He particularly enjoyed boating on Lake Champlain, where he and Jeanne owned a camp for many years. Rod served in the Air Guard and worked at IBM and retired after 23 years. He was always happy to lend his neighbor a hand, and people in Fairfax remember him for his lively conversation and dry sense of humor. Rod especially loved spending time with his two grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Rod’s family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and hospital staff who supported Rod while he battled cancer, especially Dr. Greenblatt, Dr. Bartel, Janet Ely, Home Health, our wonderful neighbors who were always willing to help with the mowing, plowing, etc. Also Mike Bechard, a great brother who also plowed for us and was always helping our family in many ways. Rod enjoyed his many visits chatting at least for a couple of hours and made his day. Becca and Hunter was always available to help their Pep, even if it was just a visit. Our thoughtful, loving, caring son Tim, who was always ready to help with bringing his father to his Doctor's appointments/chemo/and helping him with any thing else that needed to be done. Tim would call and they would chat for hours which his father loved. We will never forget the time and effort everyone spent keeping Rod comfortable during his final years. Services for Rod will be held in the spring with Military Honors. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society in Rod’s honor. Honored to be serving the Valley family is the Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com
