James Clayton Foster, Jr., 92, husband of Kathryne “Nancy” Foster, of Douglas Lane in Waynesboro, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at Birch Gardens in Staunton. Mr. Foster was born in Campbell County, Virginia on April 9, 1929, the son of the late James Clayton Foster, Sr. and Mary Helen (Bass) Foster. Mr. Foster was a member of Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church and a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1951-1953. He worked at Vepco/Dominion Power, beginning as a member on the line crew in 1950 and retired after 38 years of service as an Operations Manager. He was a member of the Fishersville Ruritan Club and he enjoyed the outdoors, hunting with his rabbit dogs, and gardening. In addition to his parents, Mr. Foster was preceded in death by a sister, Marie Lipscomb. Surviving, in addition to his wife of 71 years, are two sons, James C. “Jim” Foster, III and his wife, Sherry, of Lyndhurst, and Daniel S. Foster, Sr. and his wife, Ann, of Hightown; two sisters, Nancy Walker and her husband, Herman, of Richmond, and Janet Neal and her husband, Harold, of Bedford; five grandchildren, Amanda Walker and her husband Beau, James C. “Jimmy” Foster, IV and his wife Claire, Amy Jurls and her husband Darby, Daniel S. Foster, Jr. and his wife Liz, and Mariam Foster; and ten great-grandchildren, Asher, Jonah, Silas, Julia, Rachel, Cora, Jake, Ian, Anne Carter, and Mary Foster. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church by Pastor Patrick Ryan. Burial will follow in Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the burial. Active pallbearers will be Jimmy Foster, IV, Daniel Foster, Jr., Harrison Moyers, Keith Ramsey, Bill Ramsey, Robert Ramsey, Robert Moffett and Drew Cashatt. It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association Central and Western Virginia Chapter, 355 Rio Road Suite 102, Charlottesville, Virginia 22901 or Tinkling Spring Presbyterian Church, 30 Tinkling Spring Drive, Fishersville, Virginia 22939.
