Kirk Burkey Midwest City, Oklahoma Obituary

Kirk Burkey

Larry Kirk Burkey, age 59, died on November 15, 2021. Kirk was born on April 21, 1962, to Larry and Barbara Sauber Burkey. He graduated from Midwest City High School in 1980. Kirk’s aptitude for taking things apart and putting them back together was a gift. At a young age he was always taking things apart whether it were toys or bicycles. He began working on his first car engine before his 16th birthday. His love for anything fast and loud became his passion. Kirk worked for Masterbuilt Motors and JoyCo Engines. He eventually owned his own business, Valve Train Specialists, where he honed his craft. His fearlessness and the need for an adrenaline rush led to his hobby for high performance boats. He owned his own boat and spent countless hours at the lake. This hobby progressed to helping others enhance their high performance boats. Kirk was preceded in death by his dad, Larry Burkey, and his brother Joe Burkey. He is survived by his mother, Barbara Burkey, sisters Anita Keith and husband Tommy, Jaime Johnson and husband Donnie, nephews Dawson Keith, Ty Keith, Cade Sanford, Kohen Sanford, and grandnephew Kannon Keith and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. Graveside Services will be on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, 4375 S. Meridian Avenue, at 2:00 p.m. The family is extending an invitation to friends and family that are unable to attend and wish to pay respects for a come and go reception at the Johnson home, 921 Drake Drive, Choctaw, Oklahoma from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
