Obituary

On November 15th, 2021, our friend and mother, Marilyn’s Anne Elizabeth Kalke( Laitinen) passed away peacefully in her sleep at the Vernon Jubilee hospital.

Mame, Mom, was born on June 7th, 1951 in Salmon Arm BC. Mom left behind her sons Jordan Kalke and Josh Kalke as well as Jordans family, wife Michelle, and children Ashton, Araya, Reece and Chanson. Josh's family, wife Chandra and children Kayden and Kelysha.

Marilyn was the youngest child of her parents Matt Laitinen and Alberta Laitinen and was survived by her sisters, Sharon New, Lorna Schley and Sandy Gates and numerous nephews and nieces.  Mom was predeceased by her dear brother, Gerald New.

Mom dedicated her entire life helping people in need.

She prided herself in the work she did at the Tranquille Institution in her youth and then spent just under 27 years helping woman at the Salmon Arm Womens Shelter. For all those that knew our Mom, knew that her pride and joy were her family, pooches, her garden, canning, quilting and her amazing flowers and flower beds. Mom had an amazing green thumb.

There will be no service at this time but an event will be planned later on during the Spring.

In lieu of (cut) flowers or donations, the family is asking that you plant a flower this spring and think of her when it begins to grow and bloom.
