Pat Mitchell Savage Obituary

Pat Mitchell Savage died peacefully surrounded by family on Monday, November 15, 2021 at Ridgeland Place Assisted Living in Ridgeland, Mississippi. She was 90. A native of Pace, Mississippi and born on September 19, 1931, she was the last and 12th child of the late Zack Ruff Mitchell and Zadie Tucker Mitchell. Pat married into the Air Force life and she supported her husband in his service for 20 years, gladly relocating as military life required. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Pat touched the lives of many wherever she lived. Her joys in life were her 5 girls, her grandchildren, her Mitchell family, and all of her nieces and nephews. She found new loves and joys with her new family - the staff and residents at Ridgeland Place and her Hospice providers. She looked forward to worshipping at Pinehaven Presbyterian Church and was devout in her faith to our Savior Jesus Christ. For the past 8 years, Pat lived with Breast Cancer and Parkinson’s disease. She managed these diseases with grace, strength, and the determination that they would not slow her down. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, musical ability, playing piano and voice. She was known for her loving heart, kindness, and listening ear; she never met a stranger. She was smart, had a great sense of humor, and loved to tell stories. She also had the gift of hospitality. It was a joy for Pat to return to her beloved Mississippi three years ago. No matter where she lived, Mississippi was always “home.” But she knew she had an eternal Home as reminded by her favorite Bible verse, Isaiah 40:31: “…but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, Paul Savage; granddaughter, Johnna Patricia Ruth Steele; and 10 of her siblings and their spouses: Hollis (Carie) Mitchell, Quinton (Doyce) Mitchell, Charlie (Elizabeth) Mitchell, Kathleen (Louie) Skelton, Ray (Lou) Mitchell, Edith (Bill) Boswell, Lois (Robert) Cox, David (Margaret) Mitchell, Hugh (Ruth) Mitchell, and Mary (L.W.) Walker. People loved referring to her as “Pat and her girls” and she is survived by all 5 of them, her loving daughters: Lisa Savage Steele (Tom) of Virginia, Michelle Savage Buehrle (Doug) of Mississippi, Donna Savage of California, Beth Savage Andrade of Alabama, and Margaret Savage of Texas; brother, Harold Mitchell (Christine); grandchildren: Paul David Steele, Jeremiah Steele, Asher Steele, Delanna Steele, Karen Steele Griffin (Aaron), Kevin Steele, Thomas Steele (Heather), Zadie Buehrle Randle (Brandon), Harrison Buehrle, Sarah Beth Buehrle Clement (Michael), Elijah Andrade, and Savannah Savage; a host of many beloved nieces and nephews; friend, Harold Yates; and many dear friends at Ridgeland Place Assisted Living. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at Pinehaven Presbyterian Church, 2001 Pinehaven Drive, Clinton, with the Rev. Allen M. Stanton, pastor, officiating. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m. until the hour of the service at the church. Graveside services and interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021 at New Cleveland Cemetery, Cleveland, Mississippi. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) by visiting www.bcrf.org or to the National Parkinson’s Foundation by visiting www.parkinson.org.
