Gerald Armond Johnson, 90, of White Hall, passed from this life peacefully in his sleep November 13, 2021.


He was born November 25, 1930, in Rector, to the late John Franklin and Margie Seagraves Johnson.


Gerald graduated and received a B.S.A. and M.S.E from Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and an E.D.S. from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.


He served our country in the U.S. Air Force, Air National Guard and Air Force reserve for a total of 32 years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel.


His service included an avionics maintenance officer, 3 tours as a member of the Air Force Inspector General, and he also served in the Vietnam war.


After retiring from the military, he returned to teaching at public schools in Arkansas. He retired after 20 years in the education field. He worked as a teacher, principal, and superintendent at several schools.


He was a member of White Hall United Methodist Church, Paron/Congo Masonic Lodge, AF association, ARTR, DAV, VFM, and AARP.


Gerald was a long-time volunteer as a DAV van driver in Pine Bluff, church speaker and past constable for Jefferson County.


Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; son, David Johnson; brothers, Donald Johnson, and Kenneth Johnson; and sisters, Pauline Waster and Louise Lucy.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Yoshiko Johnson; sons, Dudley Johnson of Judsonia, Mark (Shara) Johnson of Rector, Martin (Leighan) Johnson of Judsonia, Van (Lisa) Johnson of Benton, Zane Johnson of Fayetteville; daughter Margie (Robert) Brown of Beebe; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.


He was loved by many and loved to talk.
