Lavina Jane Ankney age 63 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Monday afternoon November 15, 2021 at Three Rivers Health in Three Rivers, Michigan. She was born November 14, 1958 in Sturgis, Michigan daughter of the late Paul “Bud” and Alice (Maystead) Ankney. Jane resided her whole life in the Sturgis and Burr Oak area and was a graduate of Burr Oak High School with the class of 1977. She retired in 2020 from Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis following 26 years of dedicated employment. She had also worked in the cafeteria of Burr Oak Schools and for many years at Burr Oak Wood Products. Jane was a member of the Book Club, enjoyed reading and watching old movies and loved Halloween and the Grinch. She is survived by two sisters: Joellyn Ankney and Vickie Edgington both of Sturgis and several nieces and nephews. Jane was preceded in death by her parents; sister: Judy Halferty and nephew: AJ Halferty. In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial graveside service and burial of the remains will take place at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 23rd at the Burr Oak Cemetery in Burr Oak. Pastor Glenn Russel will officiate. The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Jane’s memory consider the Burr Oak Fire Department, 208 W. Front St., Burr Oak, MI 49030.
