Mr. Jasper Balaam Smith, Jr., 88, of Jasper, TN, died at his home on Saturday, July 29, 2017. The son of the late Jasper Balaam and Eleanor Cassandra Rogers Smith, he was a long-time farmer and also raised cattle. He also enjoyed gardening and loved being with friends and family. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Samuel, Raymond, Billy Joe, Isaac, William, Ben and Leroy Smith. Survivors include sisters, Alma S. Vance of Chattanooga, TN and Irene McAlpin, of Jasper, TN; brothers, Earnest Smith, of Minneapolis, MN, Willard Smith , Mack Smith, Clifford Smith, Donnie Smith and John “Butch” Smith, all of Jasper, TN and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at Rogers Funeral Home in Jasper on Monday, July 31, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be conducted from the chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 1:00 pm, with Steve Middleton and John Smith officiating.
