William Dan Aston Obituary

William Dan Aston, age 96 of Paris, TN, died Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Charter Assisted Living in Paris. Dan retired after working as a mechanic and manager in the garment industry. A loving and very committed family man, he attended church every time the doors were open. He enjoyed singing in the choir and leading music at several former churches. Listening to gospel music, and children gave him immense joy. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church and a US Army WW II veteran. Dan had a strong work ethic that he passed on to his children. Born June 6, 1925, in Calhoun County, MS, he was the son of the late Luther James Aston and the late Mattie Mae Hannaford Aston. He was first married Evelyn Bailey Aston November 1946, who preceded him in death March 14, 1996. He then married Bertha Lunsford Aston, who also preceded in death. Survivors include his four children. Judy Carol (David) Jones of Benton, AR, David (Peggy) Aston of Smyrna, Don (Janis) Aston of Nashville, and Dale (Brenda) Aston of Paris, 8 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Along with his wives and parents, Dan was preceding in death by his twelve older siblings. Arrangements are being handled by Ridgeway Funeral Home, 201 Dunlap Street, Paris, TN, 38242. Visitation will be Monday, November 13, 2021, from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Ridgeway Funeral Home, with the funeral service beginning at 7:00 pm with Gerald Scott officiating. A second visitation and funeral will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at the Pryor Funeral Home 109 S. Monroe St., Calhoun City, MS 38916. Visitation will begin at 10 am with the funeral service to follow at 12 pm. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Dan Moses, Matthew Jones, Jason Aston, Jon Aston, Ryan Aston and grandson in law, Jared DePasquale. Burial will be in the Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Calhoun City, MS. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project www.woundedwarriorproject.com.
