Opelousas - A Celebration of Life Service for Steven John Thornton will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas.  Father Gregory Simien will conduct the service.  The Rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. by Deacon Ulysse Joubert.  The service will be live streamed on the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Facebook page.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, in the Skip Montet Chapel at Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas from 4:00 p.m. until time of services.

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Steven John Thornton, age 61, on Friday, November 12, 2021. 

Steven worked very hard and took care of his family.  He was very active in the Catholic church.   He was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts and was a very passionate patriot who believed in our country and our rights as Americans. He was able to take a trip to Alaska with his son, Evan and enjoyed traveling with him.  He loved being outdoors, fishing, camping, and loved to read.  Steven was an animal lover and received his love of horses from his parents.  He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his parents, Bernard John Thornton and Nola Jean Thornton; his son, Evan John Thornton; his brother, Jeffrey Scott Thornton and wife, Jana and his sister, Rinea Blanchard; nephews, Zack Blanchard and Jorma Thornton and his niece, Tara Blanchard.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Miles John Thornton; his maternal grandparents, Nellie and Meredith Herman; his paternal grandparents, Charles and Margaret Thornton and his brother-in-law, Michael Blanchard.
