Amechi J. Aduba Obituary

Amechi J. Aduba of Doylestown, PA passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 80.

Born in Nigeria to the late Osita and Selina (Bongilli) Aduba, Amechi came to the United States in 1962. He was a resident of Doylestown, PA for 50 years.

Amechi’s entrepreneurial spirit led him to always question the status quo, constantly engage in learning, and embrace challenges and opportunities to pursue the highest potential. Both his personal and professional lives were rooted in a belief that we are all interconnected and have a responsibility to help each other access the resources we need to live well. Whether he was designing water systems, facilitating the installation of solar power, or volunteering his time with the CROP Walk and other hunger relief efforts, he generously dedicated himself to creating access to what individuals and communities need to be at their best.

Amechi graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from Lehigh University and a Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Polytechnic Institute of New York. He lived and worked in England, the United States, and Nigeria. He founded multiple companies, driven by improving systems and creating efficient access to the basic needs that could help his home country of Nigeria and beyond thrive.

Amechi was a member of the Doylestown United Methodist Church. He loved learning and could be found reading the latest strategies for expanding a power grid or debating global politics with friends and family. He had a broad love of music that included performances by Luciano Pavarotti, Wynton Marsalis, André Watts, and more. He had a particular soft spot for Mireille Mathieu, a love that was the source of much joking and laughter between Amechi and his wife, Karen.

Amechi was the beloved husband of 54 years to Karen L. (Whitten) Aduba; devoted father of Amechi, Ifeoma and Nnamdi Aduba; loving grandfather of Phoenix Edmond, Trinity Edmond, Willow Cosby and Aurora Aduba; dear brother of Osita Aduba and wife Beatrice, Paula Nelson, Nwanneka Aduba, Patsy Aduba, and the late Chineze Aduba and Nwamaka Dike; cherished step-son of Patricia Aduba; also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins in the United States and Nigeria.

A viewing will be held at Doylestown United Methodist Church, 320 E. Swamp Road, Doylestown, PA 18901 on Saturday, November 20, 2021, from 10:00-11:00 am, followed by a service at 11:00 am. Masks are required for all who attend the service. Those who are unable to attend in person may access the visitation and service online at https://boxcast.tv/view/amechi-j-aduba-service-and-visitation-130469.

Interment will be held in Doylestown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts to Church World Service via mail at P. O. Box 968, Elkhart, IN 46515 or online at https://cwsglobal.org would be appreciated.
