Michael Lynn “Mike” Towns passed away suddenly and tragically in Rooks County, Kansas on November 12, 2021, at the age of 69. Mike was born to Clarence Duane and Isabell Ann (Keller) Towns in , Kansas on May 11, 1952. He was united in marriage to Donna Jean (Belisle) Towns on March 26, 1981, at the of Christ in Great Bend, Kansas. The couple was blessed with two children: Aaron and Ashly. Mike grew up in Rooks County and graduated from Palco with the class of 1970. Following , he enlisted in the United States Army in 1971 and was honorably discharged in 1974. Mike moved to Great Bend to work in the oilfield in 1978 until he began working for NALCO Chemical Trucking and was relocated with his family to Piedmont, Oklahoma in 1994. The family moved to before returning to Palco in 2018 where Mike then retired helping local farmers. He loved his grandkids, horses, and other animals…in that . Mike was a devoted family man and was always willing to take on any role that needed to be filled. He was a tough man, with a hard exterior, but those that were close to him knew that he had a kind heart and was willing to help anyone, anytime. Mike enjoyed his time attending concerts and race events with his wife Donna. His taste in ranged from Lynard Skynard to Willie Nelson, whom he had seen six times in person. He also loved spending time in the outdoors, hunting pheasants and with his trusty Short Hair, Bo. Mike will be missed by his friends and family. His little “Damnet Donna” to a “Don’t tell me you love me, show me” will forever reverberate in the minds of those that knew him and loved him dearly. He is survived by his wife, Donna Towns of the home; mother, Isabell Towns of Palco; children, Aaron (Lindsay) Towns of Hays, KS and Ashly Towns of Palco, KS; siblings, Pam (Brad) Post of Salina, KS, and Stan (Natalie) Towns of Great Bend, KS; and ten grandchildren, Anthony, Miracle, Summer, Jeniya, Nathaniel, Kali, Danika, Emersyn, Brantlee and Ryder. Mike is preceded in death by his father, Clarence Towns and a brother, Clarence Dean Towns. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021, at the United Methodist in Palco, Kansas starting at 11 AM. Memorials are suggested to the VFW Post #8871 or the Palco Grocery and Deli to go toward his drinking buddies’ tab.
