<p>SERVICE INFORMATION:</p> <p>Edwin Eugene Blank, Sr, 74, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at his Farragut home. A celebration of life gathering for Edwin will take place on Thursday, November 18, 2021, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Shenandoah Safety Center - Bricker Room with the family greeting relatives and friends. Memorials in his name are being directed to the Brain Injury Alliance of Iowa.</p> <p> </p> <p>OBITUARY:</p> <p>Edwin Eugene Blank, Sr, son of Ernest John and Sybil Louise (Mulkey) Blank, was born on February 7, 1947 in Shenandoah, Iowa. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday evening, November 11, 2021 at his Farragut home following an extended illness at the age of 74 years, 9 months, 4 days.</p> <p>His early life was spent growing up in Shenandoah. He attended the Shenandoah Community Schools, graduating from Shenandoah High School with the Class of 1965.</p> <p>On October 2, 1965, Ed was united in marriage to Barbara Lee Swift at the Assembly of God Church in Shenandoah. They made their home in Shenandoah where they raised their four children, Edwin Jr, Timothy, Susan and Stacy. </p> <p>His first job was with Standard Sheet Metal in Shenandoah, where he worked for over 25 years. He then worked for C & H Appliance for less than a year before going to work at Blanks Heating and Air Conditioning for years. He finished his working career with Eaton Corporation, retiring after 12 years. He was also a volunteer fire fighter with the Shenandoah Fire Department for over 20 years. He served for time as a Captain and was Firefighter of the Year in 1994.</p> <p>Ed loved his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors fishing, hunting, trapping and working on old cars. He also enjoyed helping people get up to the casino. He will always be remembered for his willingness to help people. </p> <p>Preceding Ed in death were his parents and grandparents. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Barbara L. (Swift) Blank; four children, Ed Blank, Jr. and wife Micky of Clarinda, IA, Tim Blank and wife Chris of Shenandoah, IA, Susan Girouex and husband Paul of Essex, IA and Stacy Farrell and husband Erik of Farragut, IA; sister, Phyllis Miles and husband Ron of Omaha, NE; brother, Ernest Blank, Jr and wife Ann of St. Louis, MO; proud grandpa of 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; other relatives; and many friends.</p> <p> </p> <p> </p>Obituary
