Bob Tachick, Sr. Obituary

Robert Paul Tachick, Sr., 89, entered into the presence of his Savior and Lord on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, surrounded by his family. Bob was born December 15, 1931, on his grandfather’s farm in Pound, Wisconsin to Paul and Anna Tachick, the 2nd of 7 children. By age 15 he was logging. At age 19 he helped drive his family and belongings to Alaska, arriving in Soldotna, November 1,1951. An army tent was their abode while he helped build their home near the Kenai River Bridge. Service in the Army at Fort Richardson followed in Aug 1952--Aug 1954. He met his bride, Sue Freese of Oxford, PA, in September 1960 at Kenai Bible Church. They were married April 8, 1961 and drove the Alcan Hwy on their honeymoon. They were blessed with 2 children and the energy to build 4 homes together. Bob was an excellent heavy equipment operator and built many of our local roads, subdivisions and high school ball fields. He co-owned/operated Tachick Construction Co. ‘63-’74 and Bob’s Trading Post ‘74-’77. He was a KPB Road Inspector for 7½ yrs. and served on the original boards of KSRM and Solid Rock Bible Camp. Bob and Sue traveled to all 50 states and across Canada, but their annual week-long camping excursions with their grandchildren brought them the most joy. Bob always gave an honest day of hard work but, with coffee in hand and hinting for apple pie, he was always up for a good visit. We will miss the mischievous teasing twinkle in his eye and his constant reminders to “stay out of trouble”. And his prayers….his daily prayers for those whom he loved. Bob is survived by his wife, Sue, of 60 years; children, Brenda (Chris) McLay and Robert, Jr. (Trina) Tachick; grandchildren, Andrew (Callie) McLay, Alena McLay, and Kelsey, Kailyn and Caleb Tachick; siblings, Melvin (Faye), Wayne (Erlene), Shirley (Gary) Kosto and Arlene Tachick (Nick Hansen); sisters-in-law, Donna Tachick and Marie Weller; and 3 generations of nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Charles and Roger Tachick, nephew Duane Tachick and grand-nephew Scott Tachick. A celebration of life, followed by potluck-style finger foods, will be held at 2:00pm Saturday, November 20th at Soldotna Bible Chapel on Marydale Ave. In lieu of flowers, we are encouraging donations to Solid Rock Bible Camp’s Scholarship Fund, 36251 Solid Rock Rd, Unit 1, Soldotna, AK 99669 or visit solidrockbiblecamp.com. Arrangements by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
