Steve Joseph Zaunbrecher

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, November 13, 2021, at St. Leo IV Catholic Church for Steve Joseph Zaunbrecher, 81, who passed away November 10, 2021, surrounded by his family in the home he grew up in. Fr. Paul Broussard, pastor of St. Leo IV Catholic Church will be officiating for the service with Deacon Dan Didier assisting. The family is requesting visiting hours to be held Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a rosary at 6:00 pm, and Saturday from 8:00 am to 9:30 am at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley. Steve was born September 2, 1940, in Rayne, LA and resided in Roberts Cove. During his career, he worked alongside the farmers of South Louisiana as an agronomist. He provided advice to the farmers allowing them to produce successful crops to support their families. He is survived by three children, Sandy Zaunbrecher Whiting and her husband John, Quentin Zaunbrecher and his wife Roxanne, and Gretchen Zaunbrecher; seven grandchildren, Katie Whiting, Kortney Ellerbe and her husband Richard, Rebecca Kidder and her husband Dustin, Emily Whiting, Payton Fontenot and her husband David, Cole Zaunbrecher, and Dustin Zaunbrecher; and two great-grandchildren, Jon Carter Kidder, and Baby Fontenot. Steve is preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Rose Marie Reiners Zaunbrecher; his parents, Charles and Bertha Dischler Zaunbrecher; and five siblings, Dolores Z. “Bubbles” Habetz, Fr. Charles Zaunbrecher, Vincent Zaunbrecher, Jane Z. Leleux, and William “Billy” Zaunbrecher. Pallbearers will be Quentin Zaunbrecher, John Whiting, Cole Zaunbrecher, Dustin Zaunbrecher, Damian Habetz, and Kevin Reiners. The family would like to thank his sitters, Danell Trumps, Amanda Theunissen, Missy Habetz, and Hope Hospice for their care and compassion given to Mr. Zaunbrecher and his family.
