Eva S. Honbarrier

Eva Shoaf Honbarrier Belmont- Eva Shoaf Honbarrier, 90 of Bowen Drive, Belmont, died peacefully on November 9, 2021 at Peak Resources in Cherryville, NC. Born in Rowan County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Ernest Shoaf and Mary Williams Shoaf. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Donald Eugene Honbarrier. She is also preceded in death by her brother, Gordon Eugene Shoaf and wife Freddie Shoaf, Melvin Ernest Shoaf and Eva’s twin brother, Everette Shoaf. Eva graduated Woodleaf High School and worked as a homemaker and as a bookkeeper. She also was co-owner of Southern Accents Home & Hobby. She was a member of the Charlotte church of Christ. A star basketball player in high school, Eva loved “all things sports”, and married her high school sweetheart and semi-pro baseball player, Don, husband of 51 years and employee of Duke Energy. Left to cherish her memory are her 4 children; Denise Lyerly (Nixon) of Cramerton, Debi Humphries (Doug) of Colorado, Don Honbarrier Jr. (Laurie) of Virginia, Donna Stewart (Brent) of Shelby. Eva also had 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren whom she adored: Todd Lyerly (Catherine), Dustin Lyerly (Ashley) and children Emma, Ellie, & Jordan. Dana Gastelum (Blake), Drew Tenison (Jason) & Crue, Tripp Honbarrier (Jeni) and children Gemma, Lainey, & Case, Will Honbarrier (Katie) & Evie, Amanda Fisher (Darryl) & Bryson, Wes Stewart (Rachel) & Murphy. Services will be held at McLean Funeral Home in Belmont this Saturday, November 13th. Visitation begins at 11:30. Celebration of Life will begin at 1:00. A committal service is scheduled for 3:30 Saturday at the Chapel in the Pines at Rowan Memorial Park, Salisbury. The family would like to acknowledge the staff at Peak Resources, Hospice of Cleveland County, Heather Cannon and special friend, Brenda Shackleford for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County. The address is 941 Wendover Heights Dr. Shelby, NC 28150.
