Ervin Wenger Stauffer Obituary

Ervin W. Stauffer, 98, of Washington, died Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at the United Presbyterian Home in Washington. His body will be cremated, and services will be held at a later date. Beatty Peterseim Funeral and Cremation Care is assisting the family.

Ervin Wenger Stauffer was born January 22, 1923, in Wayland, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Bertha (Wenger) Stauffer. He attended Douglas rural  school. He served in the United States Army and on October 28, 1946, he was united in marriage to Virginia Wyse, the couple just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary. He enjoyed gardening, having coffee with friends, and sharing stories of his life experiences.

Survivors include his wife Virginia of Washington, three children: Rande (Jan) Stauffer of Washington, Ricke Stauffer (Christine Lease) of Mt. Pleasant, Ronda (Bob) Sobaski of Washington, five grandchildren: Michelle (Tom) Harbison, Matthew (Miranda) Stauffer, Jaden (Michele) Prottsman, Luke (Anne) Leyden, Skyler (Sarah) Leyden, and eight great grandchildren.

Preceding Ervin in death were his parents and nine brothers: Ward, John, Chris, Allen, Pete, Edwin, Eugene, Jake, Joe and one sister Rose Swanson.
