Bonnie L Doepke Obituary

Bonnie (nee Schumer) Doepke passed away on November 8, 2021 at the age of 68. She was born on March 27, 1953 in Cincinnati, to Robert and Barbara (nee Albring) Schumer. Bonnie was a 1971 graduate of Western Hills High School and went on to attend the University of Houston, University of Illinois Chicago Circle Campus, and then the University of Cincinnati. Bonnie became a CPA and worked for Great American Insurance, Wendy’s Bridal and Playhouse in the Park. Her dream job was at Playhouse in the Park. She met her future husband, James Rick Doepke, in 7th grade in 7th bell, however she didn’t know it. After being friends and dating, they finally married on August 30, 1975. They lived in Indianapolis, back to Cincinnati where they started their family with two sons: Jason and Justin, then San Francisco and finally back to Cincinnati where they have resided since 1989. Bonnie was an avid golfer and enjoyed reading a good book. She could always be found in her garden and was also part of the Western Hills Garden Club. Bonnie’s favorite holiday was Christmas. She had a Santa collection like none other. She passed her love of Christmas onto her sons. Bonnie loved being together with her children and grandchildren, especially holidays and family trips to Florida and Hilton Head. She also enjoyed traveling with her husband. Italy and England were her favorites, however she liked to travel locally to see the leaves change in the countryside.

Bonnie’s memory will live on in those that loved her especially her loving husband: Rick Doepke; sons: Jason Robert Doepke and Justin Ryan (Cristina) Doepke; cherished grandchildren: Eric, Jackson and Nolan Doepke; beloved mother: Barbara (Ray) Sander; dear siblings: Toni (Jim) Ellis and David Schumer; nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her father Robert Schumer.

A Celebration of Bonnie’s life will be held at the Miami Township Community Center, 3780 Shady Lane, North Bend, OH 45052 on Saturday, November 13, 2021, from 12:30 pm to 4 pm, with words of remembrance at 2pm by Rev. Jackie Apted and the family.
