Peggy Ann Hartman, 73, of Gassaway, went Home to be with the Lord on Monday, November 8, 2021. She passed in the comfort of her home, surrounded by loving family, and under the compassionate care of WV Hospice. She was born in Gem, WV, on June 6, 1948, a daughter of the late Woodrow Willard Brown and Lelah Maude Singleton. In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Walter “Skip” Hartman; two step-sons: Daniel and Mark Hartman; four siblings: Veon Singleton, Sharon Williams, Dorothy Adams, and Mattie Taylor; and one infant sister. Peggy is survived by her companion of fourteen years, Lonnie D. Rose of Braxton County; His love and care for Peggy was always heartwarming from her family’s perspective. Peggy is also survived by two daughters: Paula (Bill) Farthing and Penny (Donald) Lyman; one son, Brian Hartman; two step-daughters: Kelly (Dave) Sears and Lisa (Stephen) Thompson; one step-son, David (Brenda) Hartman; daughter-of-the-heart, Lacie (Ricky) Carroll; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Tracy (Sherry) Singleton; two sisters: Linda (Don) Spencer and Treva (John) Racette; two brothers-in-law: J.P. Williams and James Taylor; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Peggy began working for General Motors in Lockport, NY, in 1968 and retired in 1999 after 31 years of employment. She was a proud UAW Local #686 member. After retirement, Peggy devoted her life to taking care of her family. She enjoyed sewing and you would always see her out in her yard planting flowers and performing lawn care. Peggy and Lonnie ran the Star Bar in Sutton from 2010-2016 until illness forced them into retirement. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made “In Memory” of Peggy to WV Hospice and mailed to 21 East Main St. Suite 301, Buckhannon, WV, 26201. Peggy’s request for Cremation has been honored at Pat Boyle Funeral Home’s On-Site Crematory. A Graveside Service will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burnsville at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2021, with Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Inurnment will follow.
