Anne Smith Creston, British Columbia Obituary

Anne Smith

Anne Smith passed away peacefully at Crest View Care Village on November 5, 2021, at the age of 95 years with her daughters Lorraine Smith and Nancy Pridham at her side. The family is deeply thankful for all the caring people at mom's Crest View home. Thank you also to Dr. Karen Persad. Anne lived a long and eventful life and managed to rally for her 95th birthday, October 30th. Anne was born in Czechoslovakia in 1926. Her father, Jan Fajnor, immigrated the family to Canada before the second World War. Anne met her beloved husband Roy in Calgary where they operated a dairy farm. The family moved to beautiful Creston Valley in 1959 where they farmed on the flats. Mom loved her home, gardens, RVing, golfing, curling, reading, hosting family and volunteering with the Royal Purple, Creston Valley Library and Gleaners. The grandchildren especially enjoyed their time with Grandma; swimming in the pond, playing dress up, driving golf balls off the hill, and camping at Kootenay Lake. They have lots of great memories with her and she will be missed. Anne highly valued family, community, harmony, and friendships. Neighbours watched carefully as the almost 90-year-old Anne continued to mow her lawns and fields on her John Deere riding lawnmower. She then "retired" to Crest View Care Village. Mom enjoyed all the activities, bus rides around the valley and covering her walls with whimsical arts and crafts projects. Anne is survived by daughters Kathy, Lorraine, Nancy (David), 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, sisters Millie and Kay and many nieces and nephews. Anne was predeceased by her beloved Roy in 2000. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to your favourite food bank charity. The family will gather at a later date to honour our Mom, Grandma, Great-grandma.
